Easter greetings from Hemslöjd
Thoughts from Little Sweden, USA during this Holy Week
As owners of the Hemslöjd, my wife and I would like to take this time to wish everyone a Happy Easter and thank our many customers from across the world regardless of their faith. We also would like to express our appreciation of our dedicated employees who work hard every day to share Scandinavian Traditions with you. We hope this week finds you healthy and safe.
As an update on what is happening in Lindsborg, the Hemslöjd is still in business, although the gift shop on Lindsborg’s Main Street is temporarily closed. The catalog, internet and glass operations are still going strong! To protect our employees, we are scheduling only one person at a time, and have people coming in on various shifts throughout the day, from 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. Our catalog staff is generally in the building from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., CDT, Monday through Friday. If you call during other hours, there should still be someone to assist you, but, if not, please leave a message and we will get back to you shortly. You also can contact us via email.
We are keeping things going so we can continue bringing Scandinavian-based happiness to the homes of our customers and their loved ones, as well as provide continued income for our staff. We are pleased to report things are well underway on our annual catalog, which will still be released in October. New items, in fact, are already being added to our website – check out the new Easter Dala horse ornaments in fun pastel colors. Developing the next catalog is more challenging than usual because of the directives in place, but we are proceeding in a safe manner for everyone involved. This is surely a very difficult time for all.
We always enjoy chatting with many of you about our shared ancestry, experiences and traditions. During this time, it has been particularly uplifting. It’s clear we have a number of caring customers who empathize that we are all in this together.
While we may not be able to congregate to celebrate with our fellow church members or loved ones this Easter, we wish you happiness and remind everyone that proximity does not limit our ability to worship or to love and enjoy one another.
We thank you for supporting all the small businesses out there when you can and, most importantly, wish you a very happy and healthy Easter. Take care!
